Murat's last post was, as usual, way off the mark.

He did have one valid point, though. I’m sending all the settings with the logs, and the credentials for Dailgammon are actually included there. That shouldn’t be the case, especially since there’s really no use for them (if I suspect that the DG settings play a role, I’ll just ask for a screenshot) and that wasn’t careful enough on my part.

While you can’t really do much harm with them (and how sick do you have to be to make bad moves on behalf of someone who supports your project, or to post weird posts under their name?), they should never leave their computer.

I’m now disabling the transmission of credentials (took me 5 minutes), but I don’t actually need the user’s credentials at all! *Any* credentials are enough to analyze positions or matches, so from now on I’ll use my test user and won’t need the user’s credentials anymore.

This isn’t just better for data protection reasons—it also ensures a better out-of-the-box experience, and even users without a DG account can use posted DG URLs.

Thanks, Murat, for another nudge that made BGBlitz a little better (even if that certainly wasn’t your intention).

I’m currently still working on another bug that I’ll have fixed by Tuesday or Wednesday. If anyone wants a corrected version (except Murat, I don't care what you want), I’d be happy to release a bugfix version (maybe I’ll do that anyway—three annoying bugs are reason enough).

Finally, I can’t resist addressing his question: “How were you able to hack my computer? How did you bypass my security settings to email them to yourself a few days later?”

I simply establish a connection to my email server—just as I establish a connection to Dailgammon or OpenGammon. What Murat calls “hacking,” the rest of the world simply calls the Internet. I don’t have the slightest idea what “security measures” you’ve taken or whatever you made, but blocking network connections is obviously not one of them (which is actually the first thing you’d usually do… BTW I can recommend a few good courses on Udemy).

So as not to overwhelm your understanding: If BGBlitz detects an error (and get the allowance in all but one case) I’m connecting to the SMTP server smtp.1und1.com on port 587, which is the standard port for encrypted emails. Feel free to block it.

I simply have nothing to hide.
