From what I've heard, the orgainzers think 3-pointers are best for television. Longer matches favor the better player, but I don't know if it's by as much as most players think. I remember a few yrs ago when a new version of Snowie came out and it played a series of 3 and 13-point matches against the old version. The new version was a 52/48 fav in 3-pointers and that only went up to a 54/46 fav in 13-pointers. I think the main reason for this small difference is that while the trailer can double/redouble somewhat/a lot earlier than normal, the leader has to be a lot more careful with the cube (especially about redoubling). This makes the trailer a favorite to cut into your lead every game.
Has any of you ever kept track of your win rates in 5-pt vs. 13 or 15-pt matches (against humans and/or bots)? I haven't but would be interested to see your results if you did.
