I've read or seen videos where people ripped back on Polk (I don't know him or anyone in the poker world), but I think he has tried to be honest and have always been glad he was willing to call it like he saw it.

Yeah, backgammon is still a bit fragmented. It's very tough and probably often thankless to run a tournament. But some tournament directors or staffs do a really great job on posting results brackets, and soon after have videos on youtube, etc. The 'world championship' approach of a bit of a firewall as you and Jason described doesn't seem good.
