I don't consider an excuse exactly, only understandable. If you're Mike Svobo and you have the liquid funds to buy in directly to something like this the money has so little meaning to you. If you're Bob Koca, who is an experienced tournament player with a solid job, regular income, enough money to get his ticket over there and straight enter the events you wouldn't expect this kind of behaviour ... but to Bob even this amount of money (I'm guessing) would have to be enormous and you'd be a little more aggrivated than usual if you get to X% and now is the time the dice decide to rape your face. I'd expect Bob, or you, or myself to suck it up anyway, say nice match, and smile all the way through even if you were screaming on the inside.
Now we get to online qualifier who possibly has no real live tourney experience and the amount of money he could possibly win would let him quit whatever dead end shit job he might have. You have to empathize if not sympathize with how he would react. I'm not excusing it, simply understanding it. Short term luck makes me sick a lot, knowing that Fish1 or Fish2 gets lucky for 1 tournament in their life and never has to work again (WSOP) whereas a lot of real players whose knowledge of the game goes faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar beyond Fish1 or Fish2 are left grinding it out, day in & day out, all because our luckbox streak doesn't fall at the right time.
Again, I was speaking of a random nobody who qualified online and was playing way out of his league given the circumstances, not that his bg game might not be ok. Given that he's attended & apparently cashed in some tourneys, he shouldn't be Steve Saxing any chairs along the way.
