"Yes, we still have the World Series of Poker. But attendance (at least in the main event) has started its downhill slide since the record in 2006. Again, the governments moral restrictions have contributed to that probably even more so than the dollar / oil price / recession component."

Yes the WSOP declined in 2007 due to the UIGEA and the reduction of online qualifiers, but this year's attendance for the main event increased from last year. I wouldn't call it on a downhill slide quite yet.
