We can kill checkers in order to be able to shoot at the opp's 3 blots when he fans 25/36, we can go balls out by keeping all checkers live and saying screw it and slot the 4pt, or we make the normal looking play of 16/5 which leaves us a very reasonable position but doesn't put any pressure on the position like the other two plays do.

I admit killing checkers could be right but I'm a human and it looks too ugly for me to do it. One drawback of killing checkers is that yes, we're shooting at three blots but a few of our numbers are duplicated in order to move the back checker up or hit the blot.

That leaves the normal play which we all know can't be right because of QF and slotting the four and saying hit me now or forever hold your peace. One thing I like about the slotting play (other than leaving all of our checkers live) is that it diversifies our numbers somewhat leaving sixes and fours to cover and the small numbers to move up.

In short, 10, 4 ...but OtB if my doubles partner wanted to play to the 5 I wouldn't argue.
