I'm leaning toward your play now.

Ahead in the race, far fewer hits back (13 v 22) gives a better chance to retain that lead, we already have plenty of firepower to make points/cover the four. If White makes the 5, so what, then we win the race against a holding game.

Oh well, I already voted, but now think 'pure' 6/5* is trying too aggressively to win a big game, i.e. gammons, instead of just simple and win. I think I picked it due to QF. I'm still not sure, but I'd rather make the four point than make nothing, and keep the race lead than mix it up for smaller gains.
