Generally we don't like splitting into stacks especially when the opponent has already made his five point in addition and when he has so many men in the zone. Normally in a position like this I'd opt for both up (because there's no good ace otherwise). This doesn't seem exactly normal.

The value of hitting when the opponent has a blot elsewhere is sometimes undervalued by humans. Here since I'm not a fan of the default play because of the particulars of the position I think I'd opt for the hit. We do have the better board and ten in the zone even though it's probably too thin to fully carry out a blitz unless we have some major luck on our side. It buys us time to find a better time to split or if we're hit back we can now split with our third checker while safely holding our 24pt anchor.
