Is handling opponent's checkers to help you count the race allowed?

This particular example is ok. She was only spreading out the checkers to enable a pip count. It is clearly possible to stack checkers in a way which makes it hard to see if how many checkers are stacked and I think it is totally ok to spread them out if that is the case.

She was not gaining an unfair advantage in spreading out the checkers.

I would be against shifting checkers to different points.
