Interesting that White's home board is very similar to that of the position I just read about this morning in Magriel. While the Magriel was about playing a 2 with both checkers on the 24, he showed how advancing one checker to the 22 had White with fewer builders and hitting that deep wouldn't help much as White has only one point covered.

So. I'm not moving either of those checkers and what other options are there? Ok, so I can see no advantage in hitting on the 1-point, at least not now.

Other choices I see are 13/9(3) 8/4 as one possibility and another is 13/5 13/9(2). Both of these provide 3 active builders and if White doesn't escape next turn, Blue has more to work with to hem White in. My preference is to leave the 3rd active builder on the 8-point.
