Otb, I'd probably just hit without giving it much thought. But the gammon is probably iced if we're not hit and only hogs win backgammons. So, might it be better to just bear in without hitting?

Or stated another way, is the risk worth the gain? How many extra backgammons do we win by hitting? I don't think we win more gammons by hitting, probably fewer, and if our runner gets stuck our board may crunch followed by her 5 runners beating up our straggler until she rewhips.

I get dinged a lot for failing to go for the throat when the opponent is down, but I don' see the upside here.
