So, it seems the question is hit 1, 2, or none. Hitting 2 leaves Blue *very* vulnerable and White is already poised to make a 4- or 5-point board.

Scrap 2. (Stick likes these, so maybe it's right, but he can rely on my not going there.) But what about hitting on the 3? Yes, it leaves a vulnerable blot, but there are opportunities to cover if White doesn't hit immediately. And maybe just hitting and advancing from the rear is worth considering.

Is not hitting worth considering? And if so, which of the multiple moves might Blue choose? I think those worth looking at are 8/5 6/5, 11/8 11/10, and 13/10 11/10. We all know how passive I tend to be so you'd think I'd choose one of these.

Blue is behind and despite the solid 3 over on White's side, I'm going to choose to hit. But it won't surprise me if it's completely wrong.
