This might be just a me issue but in case it happened to anyone else out there ... You are saying these players are playing each other with both spots in place at the same time/during the same game correct? One player in the game will get the opening roll and the other player will play with 16 checkers.

I'm used to giving spots to people or toying with the idea of which spot is better or worse. Normally a question like this means 'which (of the two) would you rather have/give as a spot'? Here it seems to me you're asking in a game where both spots exist in the same game which player would you rather be?
