Computer for GNU rollouts?

Thanks very much Chuck. (And thanks also to "Tiny." I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want the nickname "Tiny Stick" :)

The reason I didn't give a choice is that I am considering one particular computer, which is going on sale at Aldi's (believe it or not) on Sunday. Here's a link: http://www.medion.de/ms/aldi/e5312/us/flash.html

I'm going to use this computer primarily for e-mail, playing bg on-line, GNU analyses and rollouts, hanging out at Stick's and Kit's bg sites, surfing the net, and occasional word processing.

My main question: Is this computer adequate for GNU rollouts? (My current ol' computer is not). Second question: Can I do better for around $600 US?
