Rollout
Posted By: Stick In Response To: Neil v. Stick Novi Finals (Game 8) #39 (Stick)
Date: Monday, 28 July 2008, at 10:05 a.m.
OtB I took a minute on this and my rational went something along the lines of: "Neil's board is already crunched to a 5pt board and not likely to crunch further since 5s are killed and he'll run with 6s and he has two spares on the highest point. Since I can't make him crack any more I'll play safe and try to win the game."
What did I miss? The big gammon difference. I was worried about immediate blot leaving numbers whereas if I keep the 5pt board I win almost twice as many Gs. There will be times Neil is unable to run for many turns due to my 5 prime or if he does run I may point on him. Lesson learned for me, next time this comes up I won't overlook the G factor.
The score (after 7 games) is: Neil_Kazaross 8, Stick_Rice 3 (match to 13 points)
Move number 30: Stick_Rice to play 33
