Unfortunately we've yet to find anyone to replace Sagan....
Alas, no. The man was wise and exciting and prolific. I haven't read Other Worlds or UFO's, a Scientific Debate but I was enthralled by Intelligent Life in the Universe when I first read it some 35 years ago. This year I enjoyed his last published book, The Varieties of Scientific Experience, posthumously published in 2006. It's a version of his 1985 Gifford Lectures, the same lecture series that Williams James turned into a similarly titled book in 1902.
For those who would like to delve into the topic further
there's Michael Shermer's Why People Believe Weird Things and the very good How to Think About Weird Things by Theodore Schick and Lewis Vaughn.
