Anchor on 23 point or 1 each on 24 and 22

I dont have a reference position, but my personal criteria depend on relative board strength, risk of being pointed on, diversity of escaping numbers, and level of need to escape. Also, whats the outfield position like, is it stripped, would I (in the future) be stepping out into double or triple directs, is it a holding game - do I need to mobilize soon, am I going to be cubing my opponent out or in.
Basically, I briefly assess what I expect to happen based on what I know about the player, and the position (and score), and play based on that.
Example:
Match to 4, tied at 0183 142 Board image courtesy of GO-Figure Here I want to prepare to get my advanced anchor, score, position etc, so step to the 22pt with the last ace.
Whereas here:
Match to 4, tied at 0142 142 Board image courtesy of GO-Figure I want to anchor so as not to get completely primed in or blitzed out the game.
Thats just my perspective, and I find it hard to quantify exactly which criteria holds what weight - as that changes with positions, score, type etc.
I do often say that it is extremely important to split at the back very early in games - its a flexibility thing.
