Why Double/Take of course since White's winning chances of 31/36 x 5/36 = 155 / 2196 is much higher than the value of the free drop.
BTW, my original post was in jest. I was making fun of Bob's 3-away / 1-away mid-game cube decision in his finals match against Gus Hansen at Cannes and the very biased anti-Bob commentary (what an outrage!!) posted here just after that match last month.
I play against Bob locally (I'm just name-dropping since he's a celebrity now) so he'll get his chance to get back at me!
In fact I'm beginning to thing there should be drug-testing in backgammon. I can easily understand his success in Europe but then he comes back to the states and in barely over 24 hours after returning he wins the local Baltimore tournament! Three wins in a row, 5 pt. matches no less, much longer than those wimpy 3 pt-ers at the WSOB. So Bob, which causes more fatigue, a 3 point match or a 5 point match?!?!?! :-)
