If we had just a few more pips so we could reasonably expect to holding both points for one more roll ... but we haven't, so if we play 8/4 6/3 we must count on breaking an outside point next roll, still leaving us with a single shot when the shot comes. Also 2s do not break comfortably for us, and 1.s only at the cost of breaking the rearmost point which is a big concession. Lastly, keeping 2 points for one turn does not buy us much - 22 play better for Stick of course, and 11 slightly. The gain from being able to give a shot early with 26, 25, 24, is probably nonexistant - It would still be better to temporize.
