I win a lot more g's against a four checker ace point game than by having two checkers closed out -- and he doesn't have, and will never have, a board. So, I want to try to pick all those ripe juicy berries (aka blots) before they are hidden (covered or lifted). Who knows, I could close out all four. And, of course, at the score I have no gammon fear, so I'm going for the gusto here.
