I think 1/off(3) 6/5. The extra checker off is worth something, and the resulting position is good if White fans or comes in on the 1 point and stays there. The problem with other plays is that future prospects aren't so good. There's an argument for 3/off 1/off, keeping a five-point board maybe for more than one turn, but I still like three checkers off better.

I hate 1/off(3) 2/1, because the followup is very hard after White hits.
