Yeah, you're right, I forgot about the exponents! Maybe I was unconsciously trying to save myself some mental calculations. Anyway, had I remembered to vary exponents, I certainly wouldn't have been able to get the right answer in my head. I just have to try these mental calculations, it reminds me of the old backgammon days when I had a very easy time with less difficult, but still challenging kinds of problems that actually applied to backgammon.
