Prize money

Not many people have ever acused me of being a nice guy! However, I have been playing a long time and have done some auctions for TDs. Their expenses are rising, and they mostly all try to give the players a lot for their money. I encourage players to tip when they win, to help defray costs and help directors around the country to continue to be able to provide nice venues, trophies, and food perks to their players. ABT events are often run on tight budgets, and recently many have actually folded. As someone who has some experience at winning, I hope that my suggestions will prompt a new winner to do something they would normally do... But forget in the excitement of winning, getting a trophy, and having their picture taken as they are informed that they have also won some ABT points.
We are accustomed to adding 15% to the bill presented to us by a waitress who has waited on us for 20 minutes. A TD and his staff have waited on 100 of us for 3 days! They give us an envelope with BILLS in it, not a bill, and I think they ought to be rewarded for their efforts, even though some of them are not as deserving as others. Besides the best thing about tipping is that it will make YOU feel good too. Nobody expects the losers to tip, and the best time to do it is when you are suddenly flush with cash. It's the right thing to do, it shows you have some class.
