I make the 5 point, which is part of almost all winning game plans. If I don't, I think I have to hit outside somewhere and hit loose on the 5 point, after which there are annoying 1-duplications.

Letting White make the 5 point is disastrous. Letting White hit back on the 5 point is disastrous, too, so I'd rather make the 5 point while I can.
