The 21 point anchor is about as good - or better - than the bar point anchor here, so 24/21 13/7* must be better than 24/18 21/18. The alternative is just making the big point with 11/5 8/5: The 5 point is forever, Blue is not threatening much, Blue cannot always clean up his blots allowing me to attack next turn with equal or better board.

OTOH, after 24/21 13/7*: I have an anchor, I have gained in the race, Blue gets no initiative as he needs to enter, I can get to make the 5 point from the stack on 6. All in all it looks like this play does more good things, and is my choice.
