Sure: it's OK to enter 1 or 2 or 3 if you have 4 processors (the default setting is 1), but why should you?

GNU Backgammon coexists with all other programs-processes-services e.a. You can adapt the priority GNU Backgammon gets from your OS when you're afraid it will slow things down.
