Which camera to use?

Which camera should I buy for recording live bg matches? And how should I set it up? Flat from the side? Maybe on a book? With a tripod to view the playing survace from above? Place the tripod on the table or on the floor? On my back, on opponents back or on the side? Any additional equipment?
