I was almost stiffed by a person who owned half of me in the Calcutta, after I won an ABT tournament. I owned the entire other half. By the time I got around to looking for him, he had left. I showed the director my notebook entry that I'd bought half myself back, for what that was worth, but the director said he believed me even without that.

I was able to contact the prospective stiffer, and he claimed he had no memory of my buying back. He proposed a settlement where he'd pay me part of what he owed me. That was the last straw. B.S., I said, and implied that his name would be Mud if he didn't pay in full. To his credit, he did pay.
