Swiss - Inviting Cheating?

In normal KO tournaments (no side pool, no calcutta) you cannot gain an advantage by throwing a match. The reason is, that whatever the outcome of the match, the two players involved will continue in the same two spots of the schedule. Well, maybe you could gain an advantage nonetheless, if one of the players involved plays clearly stronger than the other. But I could live with that.
In Swiss tournaments, this is not the case. Assume two friends are playing in the 11th round, one with 7-3, one with 8-2. After the match, they are either both 8-3 and will both receive a minor prize, or one is out, but the other can continue playing for the tournament victory. The later should be more profitable for the two friends according to your payout sequence. You might be able to modify your payout sequence, so that both alternatives are worth exactly the same for the two friends in this situation. But the point is, that there are many similiar situations and it should not be possible to take care of all of them at the same time.
If this sort of cheating is possible, somebody will do it, and it will never be detected. I would not have a good feeling playing in a swiss if there is considerable money involved.
