Do you mean the pruning algorithm prunes differently depending upon the opponent or more specifically the MET?

That might be true, but it is not what I meant.

I think a 4-ply evaluation is basically a 0-ply checker play / 0-ply cube rollout truncated after 4 plies. A rollout result depends on the moves which are chosen in the rollout, which is why we usually prefer a 2-ply rollout to a 0-ply rollout. If we roll out a position twice, with different METs, we can expect the results (specifically, the w/g/bg breakdowns) to differ slightly, because the moves chosen in the rollout might differ, e.g. due to different gammon prices. If a 4-ply eval is basically a rollout, we can expect that to depend on the chosen MET as well.
