I'm sure there are several ways to cheat at online BG (using a bot, but making enough mistakes to only rate as world-class the most obvious), but I'm fairly confident that only on two or three occasions the last three and a half years have I run into cheaters. The reason is that I analyse all my games, and note that most of my opponents play worse than me. Of course, it still might be possible that opponents somehow have information on future dice rolls, play a bad enough game but always end up being 'lucky'. Since the beginning of August I have started to record GNU's luck rate as well. So far I only have one data point in this study: over about 2700 rolls in games played in August, my luck: -3.0, opp. luck +1.6. Well within what to be expected, we'll see what September brings.

The only thing I'm fairly certain of is that cheaters are best detected by their fellow players, and not by the operating site.
