Backgammon Burnout

Yes and took time off, completely. I have known people to take as long as 4 or so years off and then come back refreshed. It can also be as short as a month.
Another suggestion would be to get more selective. At one time I played every damn tournement I could. Now I play 1-3 a month and ZM (as you know). Much less stress, although for me the majority of that stress wasn't the actual playing, it was the bloody scheduling with people who seemed to go out of their way to make it as difficult as possible.
And even in ZM I am particular as to who I play. Although I have found the best way to deal with those who attempt the psyche ploys is to play their game. For example, if they complain I am moving or rolling too slowly (and I am well known for being quick), I simply slow down more. My oh my they do get wound up. It is so funny. But maybe I just have a warped (sadistic?) sense of humour.
