Recording matches

If all you're concerned with is "was my play correct or was it wrong" then I agree, if, however, you're looking to get a feel for your overall error rate, I suggest you roll these out a minimum number of trials to get a feel for truly how grandoise the error was. 2 ply may say it was a blunder and in retrospect you agree it was a blunder, then you roll it out and find out it was a double whopper with a small coke. This is one reason why ppl rolling out their own matches doesn't give anywhere near a true error rate.
I agree with all this, but I don't feel like spending a few days rolling out a match so I can get my ER to within +/- 1. I don't care if I played a 0.9 or a 9.0, to tell the truth. I am only going to do a rollout to find out if my play was correct, not to reduce a .09 error to a .07 error.
