The deuce point is not good for priming. It's only useful for attacking. Once White has made the deuce, the ace point anchor is almost as good as any other one. Even if we get stuck back there, we still can't be primed without a lot of luck on White's part, and it may be awkward for him if we hold the ace.

On the other hand, if you split, he'll just attack with the stronger board.

I think there are times when it's right to split vs. the deuce point, but this isn't one. Usually it involves splitting to the 22 point where White won't want to attack anyway.
