OTB I knew that the position here if Stepan had all his 5 checkers on the ace pt was a close money take. I also know that I have to pass an 8 cube quicker with a 1-0 lead to 11. But Stepan's 11 won't work for him so I felt that would give me a technical take at this score. Stepan has a great record vs me and in ABT events and I was simply too emotionally invested in the game (somehow he kept a 4 pt board together (rolling near jokers from a primed 1-2 backgame and then hit me and I dance endlessly)) to pass a cube vs him the I was sure was a technical take. Had a little birdie flown down and told me that the was .99 I'd have conceded the 4 pts. I took and my 2nd roll was a losing 32 and while I made a strong comeback to 8-6 but then Stepan shut the door. 7 ply eval and rollouts also agree with .991 take.
