In Jeremy's defence, and noting I sat with them for breakfast the following morning, he had to play the finals the next day, and being from CA may not have been tired as it isn't as late in PDT time zone as the CDT time zone you and I are used to. He may simply not have realized things were taking so long or that he was keeping you two up very late. Was the staff aware that this match was dragging on nearly endlessly ?
It sucks to see a doubles match start at 11 PM since they can often go more than 2 hours. What is the rush to get things finished so early on Sunday ? If players want to play a bunch of side events, don't book early flights home (noting it is easy to fly out of Denver and many other ABT venues (not all)). I really hope to see a bit more of Sunday available for play and side event play than I see in some events.
Any match starting as late as 11 PM and esp. doubles must be CLOCKED. If you doubles match was clocked at a not unreasonable 3min+15 sec, I suspect it would have ended by 12:30 or 1 AM. By clocking you take the pressure of the staff to monitor a very slow match and you keep the players playing at a reasonable pace and prevent marathon 7 pt matches.
CLOCK any late starting doubles matches please.
