I agree with just about everything you said. I would be hesitant to use distraction as an argument against gambling. A manager could be distracted by thinking about his date after the game or just about anything else. I would guess that Rose was as intent on the game as his peers over the course of a season.

I think that the HOF devalues itself by keeping Rose out. (Of course keeping Shoeless Joe out is even worse. Joe probably wasn't even guilty of the charge.)

I used to admire Gary Kasparov until he refused to finish a game of Chess in progress with Neil (our own Last Chance Luckbox) when he learned that Neil is a Chess Expert.
