Short Rollout

I don't know too much about baseball, but I tend to agree with Stick. Many things have already been mentioned and I have one argument to add.
There is an inherent limit on how good pitching actually can be. At a certain point, you are just not able to throw the ball faster, more precise etc. --- I think there are many pitchers who get close to that point.
There is no such limit for good batting. It is always possible to get even better by a margin. Or turn it the other way round, if there was a limit, where would it be? If you hold your club right, you will score a home run with every at bat, independent of how the ball is pitched. Noone might actually be able to do that or get close, but there are always possibilities for big improvements --- I think there are only some very good hitters, the first 9 being considerably stronger than the second 9.
So this might be what the pro pitching guys seem to overlook. In a regular game, pitching outweighs hitting just because no team will ever consists of 9 on the edge hitters but many teams will have at least one on the edge pitcher.
