Reconsideration

Prodded by my teammates, I have taken another look at the position. As is so often the case, I see more on the second look than I did on the first look.
8-4*, 8-3 puts two in the air. This allows the blot on the 15 to stay on that point with relative safety next turn. The idea appears to be to make the 15 point and prevent the six prime. Although there isn's a spare on the four, the anchor could be chucked temporarily to leap as Stick is very unlikely to attack the four point quickly. The chances of remaking it would be high. All of this gives us a chance of creating points six pips apart, preventing the prime and allowing future recycling to improve our timing. In the event that we don't roll a six in the next one or two turns, a move like 15-6 could then be played, partially transposing into the ideas I was promoting. This plan is not a likely parley. Neither is it remote.
What price is paid to gain the parley mentioned above? We give up the eight point which we want for the three point which we do not really want. We give Stick four points in timing directly from the hit. And, we give him additional timing when he doesn't enter with two checkers. This is particularly bad when it kills a six. As a bonus for the play there's a small chance of making the four and having Stick get stuck behind a prime of our own.
Upon reconsideration, I think that 8-4*, 8-3 is reasonable. I still prefer 15-6. It feels like a more flexibile play. I dread playing the position when the hit doesn't work and Stick's timing becomes better than it already is.
