Peoria Update/Colck use

Part of the problem was the TD's conception of what it means for a match to be behind schedule. At one point it was suggested that a slow match be clocked but the TD declined pointing out how it wasn't behind since there was another match then going on at the same level. To me that indicates double the reason for clocking.
The biggest problem though was how the last chance was set up. It was a completely random draw of all who went into it including the consolation semifinal losers and was scheduled to start at 11:30am. There were two final 8 games scheduled to start at 9:30 and one of the final 4 consolation games ended at 12:35. And then that loser went to the LC and without a bye! So effectively the longest path was delayed by over an hour.
The timing problems were dissapponting to me. I was wavering on going to the tournament as the flight would have been quite expensive. I found a reasonable one but leaving at 4:40. When I expressed concern about that being early enough to the TD she told me that the year previous they had everything wrapped up and were even out the door by 3:00 pm and that they would indeed be clocking proactively. I wonder if the LC started at 11:30 last year also? Seems like a late time to start it. I advanced through 4 rounds of the LC but the last couple games I was playing very fast and mentally trying to figure out contingency plans at the same time. I lost in the final 4 game though and was able to catch my original flight. If I had won, I probably would have missed it though. The opposite finalist David Rockwell indicated we could have possibly worked something out though while I was playing that game. Also I'd like to thank Neil who offered me a ride to Chicago airport if needed where I could have still gotten a late flight back to Chicago and Julius High who waited until my match was over to drive to the airport.
Other than the timing issues it was a good tournament. The Calcutta auction especially was interesting. There were 14 "A" players and 29 B players. When you won the blind bid you built your team of an A player and 2 B players (3 B players for very last bid).
