And also not an argument for taking the single point. Actually it supports going for two.

Let's suppose the Lions are bound to score the 7 points. If the Vikings go for one the first time, they would be going for two the next time. So there is a two point attempt in there anyways. Does it matter if they try it immediately or the next time? Yes, if they are going to miss it it is better to know that sooner rather than later.
