Actually Obama plans to raise taxes for all Americans, he just doesn't call it a tax. It is called Cap and Trade on carbon emissions.

What cap and trade does is raise the price of gasoline, home heating oil, natural gas for home heating, oil for electricity (applicable only in Hawaii I believe), natural gas for electricity, and coal for electricity.

Cap and trade works virtually exactly like a direct tax on all these activities, but because it isn't usually called a tax, tax ungry politicians like Obama simply love it. So do the bulk of the media for the exact same reason, it is hidden.
