44 to play Peoria last chance

Seems like you'd want to maximize your gammon chances having already doubled UBK, and to that end making points and maximizing contact are in line with your priorities. Also minimizing his counter play is a good idea, and this set of 4s gives you a chance to escape two checkers to the outfield where they can't be attacked.
I think that you should make the two point and step out with two men to the 17 point. Note that White must leave with a 6 but if he continues with that checker then he may come in range of the 17 point "anchor". If he chooses to stay put then he is exposed to 4s from the midpoint even while his inner board blot is triply exposed to 1s, 2s, and 5s. So it's like UBK can't get to a safe place almost. Anyway, that is what I would try, and why... But normally I don't make the best play with doubles usually!
