NEIL WROTE: 2) Draws...I am unsure whether the intermediate draw was done during the championship calcutta or not, but it make sense to do so. However, if this wasn't done this way, then start doing the championship draw AS SOON AS the last player has been auctioned off. Get that championship draw up quickly since those matches are longer than inter matches and those players are more likely to end up in Sunday conflicts with masters and doubles. In Peoria the inter draw was up in a reasonable time which is good, but not at the expense of championship, please. My opinion is that it took about 15 minutes longer than it should have to get the champ draw up and this simply contributes to a later night and also resulted in players wandering off (my opp showed up 10 min late but we each had byes into rd 2 so it wasn't an issue)

Ray says: The tournament directors are too busy helping with the Calcutta to be trying to conduct the draw for the intermediate. I have been on several staffs and all hands are on deck during the Calcutta. By all means start the Calcutta on time instead of wating for the sleepy heads to wander in. Most likely they are not going to participate anyway!

Maybe it is just time to get RID of the Calcutta auction. Not that many people participate anyway... The biggest losers would be the TD's however, because they derive extra revenue from it. Neil keeps harping on doing the draw during the Open Calcutta, but it is not doable. That is all there is to it. No sense beating this dead horse anymore imho.
