I find it amusing that amidst all this discussion we just don't call out the serial slow players. The most egregious -- and it happens at every tournament they attend -- are not aged, infirm, or handicapped. They are deliberate and can't make a decision. God knows how they dress in the morning.

But I've seen these same very few individuals put on a clock and, voila!!, they can play at a reasonable speed. It's ridiculous that the inconsiderate serial slow players of a very few causes all this consternation.

Several years ago we ultimately asked a guy in Houston not to come back. He played slower than you can imagine and despite constant prodding he would not/could not speed it up. The regular Saturday afternoon tourney could be pushed to midnight and we started losing attendance. People would show and leave if the guy was also there.

I want to see clocks mandatory for all, but, at least, put the serial abusers on a clock beginning in the first round.
