Another suggestion for a new player - when making a move you are not sure about... you can place you checkers toward the top of the point you are considering. Then if you change your mind, there should not be any confusion as to which checkers were moved when you return them to the original position. Also, keep an eye on your opponent when he/she is doing the same - in case they become confused as to where they moved the checkers from.
