Alex has a great point about the deep thinking aspect of backgammon. If clocks are used routinely, a player would not be stopping the match to take a picture of an interesting position - there would be less buzz at the tournament about particular positions and also there would be fewer post-tournament positions posted in the forum. Is this a win-win situation for all or a lose-lose situation for forum junkies?
