Being on the bar costs White an average of about 17 pips. Even accounting for Blue's wastage, this means White will only win a few percent in the racing variations. His take point ranges from 21-12, depending on cube vig. The thing is, he's a big underdog to hit, so he usually won't be able to cube until he does hit--meaning a very inefficient recube. Can White hit often enough to make up all that extra equity? I looks clear that he can't.

On the other hand, Blue doesn't win many gammons and one bad exchange could cost him the game, so no play-on. d/p, and hope he takes.
