Seriously, the alternatives just suck. Cf. David's argument and apply the inverse.

The stack on the 7 point is 2 checkers instead of 3. You will probably roll enough 2s and 1s over the next 3-5 rolls to bring them in efficiently, you have 4s 5s and 6s to play, and if you roll a 3 you'll break even anyway.
