Bob asks: There is an ambiguity here. Did the player arrive at the position but for a different reason than blundering on the previous turn? Or did the player in fact blunder the previous turn and thus did not arrive at that position?

I'm not sure I grasp the ambiguity but that doesn't matter. The player blundered on the turn before and didn't arrive at the posted position. The posted position is what would have been if he had made the correct play instead of blundering. They discussed the "what would have happened if he didn't blunder the move before" scenario.
